Nicosia, a city of contrast: 30€ (including tickets and transfers)
Nicosia is a bustling European city with well-known stores that are perfect for enthusiastic shoppers. The Archaeological Museum provides insight into the island’s rich history which spans more than 9,000 years, or if you prefer, there is time to enjoy some shopping and exploring Laiki Yitonia, the 19th century ‘folk neighbourhood’ with its souvenir shops and tavernas. After lunch the tour follows the ‘Green Line’ that divides Nicosia in two. We will then stop by the Archbishopric and visit St. John’s Cathedral, housing some outstanding frescoes. The journey continues to the picturesque village of Lefkara that is world-famous for its lace and silverware.
So much history is waiting for you in Paphos: 30€ (including tickets and transfers)
The drive to Pafos reveals ever-changing scenery from vineyards and citrus groves to archaeological sites. Our first stop is at Curium. This Greco-Roman site sits on a clifftop high above the Mediterranean, and its beautiful open-air theatre offers spectacular views in all directions. We then pass through Episkopi, the largest British base, before enjoying time at Petra tou Romiou – Aphrodite’s birthplace, where the goddess is said to have been born from the waves. In Pafos we head straight for the House of Dionysos and its famous mosaics, which were discovered quite by accident in 1962! We pass the ruined castle of Saranta Kolones, ‘Forty Columns’, and St. Paul’s Pillar, where the apostle is said to have been flogged when he and Barnabas brought Christianity to the island. We also pass the entrance to the catacombs of Ayia Solomoni, marked by a large terebinth tree laden with pieces of material. It is said that if someone is ill and their family ties material belonging to that person to one of the branches of this holy tree, the sick person will be miraculously cured. After a stroll round the picturesque harbour we begin our return journey.
Waterpark!!!: 40€ (including ticket and transfers)
The perfect way to enjoy the glorious Cyprus sunshine is to stay cool, and what better way than with a visit to a waterpark - it’s great fun for all the family! There are all types of water slides, shutes and even kamikaze style slides for those who enjoy speed - rest assured, safety has the highest priority! If you prefer taking life at a more leisurely pace, that is equally possible on the ‘Lazy River’ and as water fun is hungry work, there are plenty of places to enjoy a snack and cool drink before going on your favourite ride - just one more time...
